Wow Cataclysm Archaeology

The new World of Warcraft expansion Cataclysm will introduce a whole new ‘profession’ to Azeroth – Archaeology (or Archeology as I’m sure it will be incorrectly spelled!). This new secondary profession will let players create glyphs that they will be able to use to alter stats, cooldowns, procs and otherwise change their performance in WoW Cataclysm.

As you probably already know, the new WoW expansion is based around Azeroth being almostly completely destroyed, and after this cataclysmic event, there will be a lot of items buried underground (as well as bringing a lot of ancient ruins, buried for hundreds or thousands of years, to the surface of the world). Archaelogy in Wow Cataclysm lets players examine ancient artifacts and use them to create stat bonuses and, most importantly, power-ups.

Q: Who will be able to train Archaeology in WoW Cataclysm?
A: Everyone! Like First Aid, Archaeology will be a secondary profession and everyone will be able to train and use their own artifacts

Q: Isn’t it useless? I don’t want to level another profession!
A: It’s not useless at all! In fact, it will be one of the major ways that characters can progress after they hit the new WoW level cap of 85. World of Warcraft Archaeology will open up different paths for players, known as the ‘Path of the Titans’, which eventually will lead to completely unique talents, abilities and stats for players around all servers. It will be a big step away from clone characters on Warcraft and towards unique and fun characters for everyone!

Q: Will you need inscription to use the glyphs that you create using Archaeology in Wow Cataclysm?
A: No, Archaeology in WoW will be ’self-sustaining’ and will not need any other professions or skills to go alongside it, especially not to use the glyphs.

Q: How many glyph slots will be available when Wow Cataclysm is shipped?
A: At release there will be around 4 or 5 artifact glyph slots available for each character, but with new patches and expansions in the future, expect this number to rise a lot.

WoW Cataclysm beta invitation

Here are the best ways to get your WoW Cataclysam Beta Invitation (updated regularly with news as it happens). With a WoW Cataclysm beta invitation you can access the new races, classes and zones of Azeroth before anyone else, and find out the secrets of the new world of warcraf expansion pack!

What is a WoW Cataclysm beta invitation?

A World of Warcraft beta invitation will usually be given in the form of a product key or serial number that can be entered when you download the Cataclysm beta client. After you have entered your WoW Cataclysm Beta key you will be able to log on to the beta server and begin playing on the test servers.

The test server invitations are usually given out in the following order:

- Internal testers
- Trusted (people who have tested world of warcraft alpha and beta previously) testers
- World of Warcraft Cataclysm beta competition winners – Blizzard will hold a certain number of beta invitations for wow cataclysm for people who win contests and competitions on their site
- High-end guilds – Raiding guilds who are extremely strong in their respective servers and who have conquered the majority of the game will be given first access to test the Beta worlds.
- Finally, people who register on Wow.com or on other official websites – The normal folk who want to try out the beta may have access to an invitation IF they register soon enough

Another way to get hold of a WoW Cataclysm beta invite is to buy a copy of the game in leading games retailers. Game.co.uk in England as well as a number of different stores in the USA gave away free Beta invitations with the purchase of the full expansion previously, and will probably do the same this time around.

The final piece of advice is to get onto Ebay and start searching – many beta keys will show up on Ebay as soon as they are available, but they are usually overpriced and not really worth the hassle. It’s your choice!

Worgen racials in WoW Cataclysm

As you all know by now, the new World of Warcraft playable race, the Worgen, will have new racials in WoW Cataclysm! One of the most widely asked questions at Blizzcon was ‘What will the Worgen’s new abilities and talents be?’. Which classes will Worgen be able to play as? Will Worgen be as unstoppable in Cataclysm as they are in the normal game?! Well, here’s the Worgen WoW Cataclysm info:

- Worgen racial – Viciousness – +1% damage

It seems that many racials in World of Warcraft revolve around +1% something, and Worgen are now different. +1% damage gives a nice boost to DPS and will help in the damage meters in WoW Cataclysm raiding.

- Worgen Cataclysm racial – Dark Flight – +70% run speed for 10 seconds. 3 minute cooldown

The first so called ‘imba’ new racials for worgen in WoW Cataclysm is Dark Flight’ (or basically a new version of the rogue’s sprint. Amazingly useful for any class (it has saved many rogues from certain death / wipe / terror / carnage in the past)…this one could be a game changer.

- Worgen WoW Cataclysm racial – Abberation – Length of Curses and Diseases reduced by 15%.

Depending on the class of the player, this racial could be excellent or it could be a little pointless. Some classes rely heavily on curses (Warlock) and diseases, but some do not. We will wait and see whether this racial is tweaked slightly before the launch of the beta.

- Worgen racial – Flayer – Skinning skill increased by 15 and allows you to skin faster. Skinning knife not required for skinning.

The ultimate irony – Worgen used to be the ideal candidate for skinners who wanted to make quick gold in wow. You could kill them for XP, steal their drops, loot them for cash and then skin them for profession. Now the tables have turned, and Worgen will be the ultimate skinners in WoW Cataclism.

- Worgen WoW racial – Two Forms – Switch to your currently inactive form. 1.5 sec cooldown.

This is mostly cosmetic (looks), but it might be useful in Ironforge if you’re trying to impress people at Christmas time and you don’t have any WoW snowballs to throw. Worgen will have two ‘looks’ or designs, which you can swtich between (like Druids), but the abilities between the two will probably not be different. We will see whether switching can be done in combat and whether it breaks any casting or spells.
